Ahsoka Agility

Ahsoka and I have been taking agility classes for about a year now.  She really loves going to agility class.  Agility is a great way to bong with your dog and especially great for high energy dogs like Ahsoka.  If your dog has way too much energy to burn, look into an agility class in your area.  There are even ways you can practice at home.  We bought poles that stick in the grass to use as weave poles.  We have a hula hoop that we use for the agility hoop.  And it is easy to create jumps with a simple broom and canned food.

Agility is definitely trial and error.

New Hammocks

We got two new hammocks today.   Just hanging out catching some sun!

Phoebe training Leave It

This is Phoebe.  She is a 5-month-old Labradoodle.

In these pictures, she is working on "Heel" and "Leave It."

Phoebe has been digging up mushrooms in the yard.

This is a more difficult skill to master.

She did a good job leaving the mushroom alone.

Dog Walks

Ahsoka agility

In this video you can see me working with Ahsoka on getting some distance during our agility run.  This is important to do because the better control the handler has over the dog, the easier it will be to increase your dog's agility skills and performance.  Ultimately the handler wants to be able to direct their dog where to run on the course from any position, close or far.  This video shows the first day we started working on this.  You can tell Ahsoka is little confused but she did very well.

Action Yoga Sunday

I've been doing yoga for about 3 years now, and I'm so glad I started doing it.  I really enjoy arm balances and head and handstands.  It took some time, but I'm not bad a few of these things.  Here are some fun pics from Action Yoga Sunday.  

Fearful Zuko

Sadly I did not get a ton of pictures.  But here a few pics of Zuko (dog on right) working on his fearfulness around people.  He did fantastic!  Zuko is fearful of people approaching him.  So for this exercise we had people walk past (without making eye contact) and toss a treat in his direction.  After a few rounds, you could see him moving towards the people because he was now interested in the treat they were going to toss, therefore helping to create a new positive association to having people toward and move past him.

Rally Trial

As a trainer, I am always interested in learning more about dogs and trying new things.  Ahsoka and I recently took a Rally class and participated in our first AKC Rally Trial.  Ahsoka did two trials, received a qualifying score for each, and even got third place in her second trial.
